The role of a technical writer is to extract the technical detail from the experts, translate it, and produce a document everyone understands . . .

Who Am I?

When it comes to my job I am the real deal. Technical Authoring is what I have done for the last 16 years and in that time I have had no involvement in Development work, Business Analysis, marketing or any related role.

Primarily I develop content to help a company enhance its productivity. At Techwriting I provide a range of services to clients who are looking to develop, redesign, update, produce electronic or paper based documentation in the following areas.

  • Disaster Recovery

  • User Guides

  • Online Help

  • Training Manuals

  • Process & Procedure Manuals

  • Programmer Reference Manuals

  • Support Manuals

  • Quick Start Guides

  • ISO Compliant documentation

  • Website Content

  • Templates and MACROS

I have also extensive experience using the following tools:

  • Microsoft Office Suite  2003, 2007, 2010

  • RoboHelp

  • FrameMaker

  • Expression Blend

  • SupportPoint (Business Process Guide)

  • SharePoint (Document Management System) 2007, 2010

Making sense of complex technical information

My job is to take information from a variety of sources including Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and turn that information into a useable document. Where a company has bought a Software product they want to know what makes the application tick. They want to know how to use the product to achieve results and know they have invested in superb product.

Writing with consistency clarity and clear vision

We may all speak English but let's be clear not everyone knows how to write clearly and to the point in plain English. I keep each sentence to the point, avoid verbosity and present everything in a logical sequence.

Techwriting is where documentation works for everyone
